SL Europe helps international partners understand what is really happening on the ground in Mongolia. Native-language access, strong local relationships and international commercial experience allow us to test project evidence, identify delivery risks and support better investment and partnership decisions.
Current Mongolia Collaborations
SL Europe works with Mongolian organisations at different stages of project development. These collaborations give international partners a practical starting point for evidence review, field assessment and commercially focused pilot work. Each initiative is presented according to its current stage and available evidence.
ACTIVE COOPERATION
Urgakh Nogoon AltÂ
An active collaboration focused on organising evidence and assessing commercial readiness for a large-scale rangeland restoration and soil-carbon initiative in Sükhbaatar aimag.
PILOT PREPARATION
MRRC / Tavan Erdene
Pilot preparation combining MRRC’s rangeland science and community networks with a structured evidence, monitoring and commercial-readiness plan for Tavan Erdene.

Review of project-supplied GIS boundaries, land-use documentation, access rights and any identified inconsistencies or missing records.
SCIENTIFIC BASELINE
Organisation of available soil, vegetation, biodiversity and remote-sensing evidence, including its source, date, methodology and current review status.
LOCAL DELIVERY CAPACITY
Assessment of the local partner’s team, responsibilities, relevant experience, equipment, field access and reporting capability.
STAKEHOLDER EVIDENCE
Review of consultation, participation and consent records, community agreements, grievance arrangements and proposed benefit-sharing mechanisms
COMMERCIAL MODEL
Review of implementation costs, operating responsibilities, revenue assumptions, buyer requirements and proposed benefit-sharing arrangements.
MONITORING AND REPORTING
Preparation of practical evidence registers, monitoring schedules, field records and agreed English-language progress reports for international partners.
PROJECT EVIDENCE AND READINESS
Before an international partner commits time, technical resources or capital, SL Europe reviews and organises the available evidence to show what is established, what is project-reported and what still requires independent assessment. Our work focuses on six practical areas.
Project Boundary and Rights
We organise available maps, site coordinates, land-use records and access documents, identify inconsistencies and flag matters requiring legal or technical review.
Scientific Baseline
We organise available soil, vegetation, biodiversity and remote-sensing information, recording its source, date, methodology, evidence gaps and current review status.
Local Delivery Capacity
We assess the local team, responsibilities, relevant experience, equipment, field access and ability to deliver and report against an agreed work plan.
Stakeholder and Community Evidence
We review consultation, participation and consent records, community agreements, grievance arrangements and proposed benefit-sharing mechanisms.
Commercial Model
We assess implementation costs, operating responsibilities, revenue assumptions, buyer requirements and benefit-sharing against the evidence currently available.
Monitoring and Reporting
We establish an evidence register, field-monitoring schedule, photographic or geotagged records and clear English-language progress reports for international clients.
RANGELAND SCIENCE AND FIELD EVIDENCE
MRRC / Tavan ErdeneÂ
Pilot preparationÂ
The Tavan Erdene initiative in Bat-Ölzii soum, Övörkhangai aimag, is being considered as a community-based rangeland management and ecosystem-recovery pilot. Preparation would define the project area, participating households, baseline methods, work plan, budget, responsibilities and monitoring requirements before the initiative is presented to external partners.
MRRC contributes rangeland-management experience, herder networks, national monitoring knowledge, responsible production standards and soil-organic-carbon research. MRRC retains authority over its data and technical statements, while qualified institutions remain responsible for laboratory work and independent scientific review.

Evidence and Parthnership Pathway
SL Europe can organise MRRC-approved evidence, prepare a commercial-readiness and risk note, coordinate questions from international partners and support a defined pilot brief and field-monitoring plan. Each stage would be delivered through a written, paid assignment covering scope, ownership, confidentiality, timetable and outputs.
EARLY FEASIBILITY
Switchgrass Feasibility in Mongolia
Key Feasibility Question
The exploratory focus of this initiative includes assessing the viability of switchgrass for large-scale land rehabilitation and biomass production within specific Mongolian rangeland contexts.
Applications To TestÂ
Global CRF reports that an initial planting trial has begun in Övörkhangai aimag, providing a practical starting point for monitoring establishment under Mongolian conditions. Once the species and cultivar, seed origin, planting record, winter survival and biomass performance are documented, potential applications—including land rehabilitation, fodder, pellets, heat or industrial biomass—can be assessed against processing costs and genuine buyer demand.
SL EUROPE’S Feasibility Role
SL Europe can organise Global CRF-approved trial records, photographs and monitoring data, identify missing evidence, coordinate questions with agronomists and prospective buyers, and prepare a dated feasibility and commercial-readiness report for international partners.
